‘Horror/Mystery’

Time travel plays a prominent role in the November trailer under the keyword ‘Mystery’, which is also made clear acoustically by the mechanical ticking; a clockwork therefore serves as a graphic means of expression.

The individual parts of the programme titles come together to form a whole through the meshing of the cogwheels.

‘Der Gott des Gemetzels’

This film takes place largely in a living room, where two married couples gather to deal with a violent argument between their sons. However, the domestic peace is suddenly shattered (represented here by a cut through a classically patterned wallpaper) when it becomes clear that each of the four people has a different view of what happened -
a veritable verbal slaughter breaks out.

‘The Luminaries’

This series, based on the novel ‘The Luminaries’ (2017), is set in New Zealand in the heyday of the gold rush era.

These two essential ingredients are also recognisable in the title animation: the text is set in gold leaf on a map of New Zealand created by James Cook (1769/70).

The moon and stars represent the second and eponymous theme of the series, namely astrology.
